Single with brown manuscript cancel on 1847 folded letter from Philadelphia to Baltimore, with blue 5 cents due handstamp. The local stamp has a scuff at the left center and a tear at right.
The letter relates to the estate of Mr. Clopper. "The estate held a lot (#239) situated on Market Street next to a lot on which the colored people built a meeting house. The lot was sold to them."
