Local Baltimore cover with "JOSEPH C. BOYD/ATTORNEY & COUNCELLOR/AT LAW/BALTIMORE" cameo on reverse. Water stains at top right.

The carrier stamp with clear to ample margins, with large plate flaw at center abd large tear at right. The 3c stamp tied by blue "Baltimore Md. Jul. 13" datestamp, on cover to Abbeville, SC.

Original gum, never hinged, except Position 4 which was previously hinged. There is an extraneous ink mark at right. Light creases, otherwise very fine.

Postmarked Feb. 16, 1857 from Baltimore to Hillsboro, N.C. The carrier stamp missing top left corner. The cover with creases and an edge stain.

Baltimore blue "APRIL 6" datestamp

The 1c blue tied by indistinct blue postmark on front only of folded letter to Philadelphia with Sept 19, 1860 docketing. The folded letter on lined paper, which is glued to another paper. The 1c stamp with a short perf at left.

The 1LB1 is Position 1.

"BALTIMORE, MD. APR 22" postmark, addressed to Newport, RI with 1859 docketing.

Tied by Red "BOSTON 16 APR 5 CTS" handstamp and also tied by black ring with ornaments cancel, to Surry, Maine. The cover with three vertical and one horizontal fold.

The 1c stamp tied by "BOSTON 5 CTS 9 JUL" postmark. The 5c with a small corner crease at top left and a small surface scuff at lower left. The 3LB1a with gum soiling.

Red "BOSTON, MASS JUN 15" (1855) postmark, addressed to New York.

Stamp did not originate on cover.

This Honour's variety contains a spelling error where the word "Cents" is spelled as "Cens." The stamp with ample margins to just touching a few ornaments with manuscript cancel for carrier delivery to the Post Office. The stamp has been lifted and replaced. The 3c stamp with large margins to slightly in at right, tied by blue "Charleston S.C. Paid Mar. 29" circular datestamp, paying the postage to Sandy Grove S.C. The cover with a shield handstamp return card on flap for "HOSCH & FLEMING MANUFACTURERS OF REFINED CANDY"
